After months of speculation, X, formerly Twitter, is set to roll out the new audio and video call features.
If you have been keeping up with Elon Musk and his changes on X, then you will know that the Tech billionaire has been teasing audio and video calls on X or Twitter.
Well, the features are finally here with us.
X Audio and Video Calls
Elon Musk has long hinted at this possibility, from back in November 2022, during his presentation for what he dubbed Twitter 2.0.
Then, in August this year, Twitter or X CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed this, stating that users on the platform would soon get native calling capacities. This means that they would be able to make video and audio calls without sharing their phone numbers.
And on October 26, Elon Musk finally confirmed it, tweeting, “an early version of video & audio calling on X.”
So, how do you then enable this feature?
How to Enable Audio and Video Calls on X
You should know that X has not officially launched the feature, and thus, the quality is currently only available to a limited number of users (mostly IOS users).
Several users of X have, thus, been getting notifications whenever they open the app, saying, ‘Audio and video calls are here!’ with an option to enable it right there.
However, you can also find this setting within the app. Head over to Settings> Privacy and Safety> Direct Messages.
If the feature is available on your account, you should see the Enable audio and video calling option. If you see this, simply toggle it to the on setting, and you are ready to go.
How will it work?
The function will be available only through the DM, but X says they will implement certain restrictions to prevent users from receiving spam calls.
