As a reader of this site, I take it that you are a frequent internet user and I know that you surf websites across the internet.
No doubt then you’ve come across websites that often ask to send you notifications as soon as the page fully loads. This experience can be frustrating, especially if you are reading a website you know fully well you won’t return to again. Sometimes, you want to read a quick article and leave!
Well, you will be pleased to note that Google Chrome, with its raft of new features, has a feature that enables you to stop sites from asking to send you notifications. However, you should note that Chrome has also made it a bit easier for websites to also send notifications so, they are essentially solving a problem of their creation.
Without further ado, then, here is how to block websites from sending you notifications:
- Open your Chrome browser window.
- Then, click on the three dots at the top right of the window.
- Then Select Settings> Privacy and Security> Site Settings> Notifications
- When you open Notifications, you will see a section called Default Behavior.
- This section will have three options: Sites can ask to send notifications, use quieter messaging and Don’t allow sites to send notifications. The default will be on the first option.
- So, change it to Don’t allow sites to send notifications.
- You’ve blocked out the pop-up notifications and can now enjoy your web browsing without worrying about being asked to receive notifications from a site whose name you don’t even remember.
However, if you truly want more private and secure web browsing experiences, check out these web browsers that guarantee complete privacy from prying eyes around you and your service provider.
