Following the runaway success of the Google Pixel phones, Google is now set to dip its hands in the ever-growing foldable phones market with their new Pixel Fold.

Google confirmed the Pixel Fold on May 4th and the phone could be launched in the coming days or weeks according to various tech news websites. There is expectation that the phone will be announced at Google’s upcoming Google I/O 2023 event, which will take place on May 10.

What to expect

Design: Well, there will be nothing completely outrageous with the design as it will feature the same book-style design of all foldables. It will also have the same back camera module as the newer Pixel 7 series, a glass back panel and a shiny, metallic camera bar.

Display: The phone is rumored to feature a display of 1840 x 2208 display with peak brightness of 1200 nits and 120Hz refresh rate. The outer display will be a standard 5.8-inch screen while the inner display will open up to 7.69 inches.

Chip: Google Pixel Fold will ship with the Google Tensor G2 chipset.

Cameras: There is still not much about the cameras, but reports state that the Pixel Fold will come with two front-facing 8 MP lenses. The rear setup will include a 64 MP sensor, a 10.8 MP telephoto lens, and 12 MP ultrawide.

Colors: The Pixel Fold will likely ship in two colors: obsidian, which is Pixel for black, and chalk, which is white. However, there are unconfirmed reports of more color options like carbon which is a shade of grey or black, and porcelain.

Price

There is no certainty about how much the Pixel Fold is expected to cost. However, based on its features and sources, the phone could cost anywhere between $1400 – $ 1800. The 512 GB variant could go as high as $1900.
