Having previously looked at the best budget phones, perhaps you may have thought, ‘I have a bit more to spend. What are my options?’
Well, worry no more. Below, we look at some of the best flagship smartphones released in 2022 which are worth all of your money, from $800 to well over $1000. Flagship phones, aside from providing you with the best hardware and software experience, also represent a status, and the following fulfil that role perfectly.
iPhone 14 Pro Max
Currently retailing at $ 1,099, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has been touted as the best smartphone of 2022 and for good reason.
This latest beauty from Apple comes with a wide raft of changes that sets it apart from, not just other iPhones, but other smartphones The phone has a dynamic island notch, an always-on display (never seen before on an iPhone), great camera and an even better battery life than any of its predecessors.
It also packs the latest A16 bionic chip, making it one of the best performing phones of 2022.
Google Pixel 7 Pro
Released alongside the base version Pixel 7, the Pixel 7 Pro is a direct successor of Pixel 6 Pro and it improves much of what the 6 Pro had started.
Featuring a now metallic visor rather than glass, the Pixel 7 Pro is more refined in design, even being slightly thinner than the 6 Pro. It comes with the more refined Google Tensor G2 chipset, which, while not quite as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or the A16 Bionic chip, has been optimized for the Google Pixel, thus, offering great performance.
Its triple camera set up with 50 MP main sensor, 12 MP ultrawide and 48 MP telephoto lens are nothing outstanding in flagship territory, but the Tensor processor, optimized for the Google hardware, works well to give you sharp, well-detailed images.
Samsung S 22 Ultra
The S 22 Ultra was among the very first flagships to be released in 2022. Starting at $ 1199, it is among the more expensive options here, but for good reason.
The S 22 Ultra comes with the Snapdragon Gen 1 chipset (some units have the Exynos 2200), an Octa-core processor and up to 1TB storage and 12GB RAM. It also has a 108 main camera sensor, a unique feature among all the flagships mentioned here. Let’s just say, in terms of hardware, the S22 Ultra is deserving of everything.
But the phone’s performance is why it deserves a spot here. The high RAM and new gen Snapdragon chip means that the phone breezes through daily activity like a paper shredder through paper. However, on whether all that is value for money at that price is all up to you, as the other phones here can give you similar or much more.
With budget phones getting better, there is no doubt that companies are looking to make their flagships stand out and each of these phones brings something unique to the table. It all depends on what you will be willing to compromise.
