Samsung has recently announced its new flagship line-up to much fanfare and enthusiasm. After the brilliance of the S 22 line-up, many have been curious to see how Samsung could beat that.

Samsung announced that all three phones will officially go on sale on February 17, 2023 and the phones are already currently available on pre-order. But what is there to look forward to.

No major design changes

Samsung have decided to go with a similar design for all their three new phones. Indeed, the S 23 has the fewest upgrades from the S 22. The S 23 camera remains unchanged from the S 22. However, Samsung has upgraded the camera software for the S 23, with a new app, Expert RAW letting you edit your images into either Raw or JPEG, which means you take high quality photos.

The same is true for the S23 Plus and Ultra. All of them have similar designs to their predecessor. However, when it comes to the S 23 Ultra camera, Samsung has doubled up the main sensor to 200 MP from 108 MP. This allows you to take high quality photos and crop them out without sacrificing much detail. It also does pixel binning, which sees it combine 16 pixels into one mega-pixel to produce high quality 12.5 MP images.

Chip

Samsung has previously been putting their in-house Exynos chips on phones sold in the European and African market. However, this time, all three devices in all markets will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This chipset allows for 5 G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 for faster connectivity and of course, is key in high-end gaming.

Battery

Two of the three phones have larger batteries than their predecessors. The S 23 has a 3,900 mAh cell, 200 mAh more than the S 22, same with the S 23 Plus’s 4,700 mAh. The S 23 Ultra, however, has a similar battery to its predecessor.  All phones have similar charging speeds to their predecessor.

Now, we wait for a more hands-on review once the phones are officially released.
