The gaming world in recent weeks was filled with the sad news that Lenovo were discontinuing their Legion gaming phones. However, that in no way means that the gaming phone space is dead. Enter ROG Phone 7 Ultimate.
The Ultimate Phone, gaming or not
Asus has given gaming enthusiasts much to be excited about in the newly announced Phone 7 Ultimate. This phone is currently one of the most powerful phones in the market. The phone features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which clocks speeds of up to 3.2 GHz. Its massive 6.78 display is the AMOLED HDR10+ that peaks at 1,500 nits. It also comes with 16GB RAM and 512 GB storage as the standard.
It also comes with that now standard ROG back display and but now has an AeroActive portal for cooling. Speaking of cooling this phone comes with an AeroActive 7 cooler that also doubles up as an additional speaker that adds more bass to your sounds, making gaming even more immersive.
Performance
In terms of performance, the ROG does exceptionally well as one would expect from a phone as specked out as it is. In fact, in benchmark tests with iPhone 14, the ROG outperforms the Apple device on most tests, though the iPhone manages to hold up well due to its superior GPU.
Cameras
Cameras are never a priority for gaming phones, and while the ROG comes with a massive 50 MP main sensor, a 13 MP ultra-wide, and a 32 MP selfie cam, the images taken are good enough, nothing exceptional.
Battery
With a massive 6000mAh battery, the ROG clocked in over 12 hours in a battery test by MrWhosetheBoss, outlasting the iPhone 14, currently the phone with the best battery in the market, by a whole 3 hours!
Software
The ROG comes with the Android 13 with ROG UI & Zen UI, which means that you can make the phone UI as gamey as you want through a variety of skins.
Should you buy it?
If you are an intermediate mobile gamer, then this phone will have a lot of usage for you due to its extra specs. If you also want a daily phone that is different from Samsung or Apple, then you could buy this. However, there is very little it does that S23 or iPhone 14 cannot – unless the battery is your main selling point.
