iOS 17: How Apple Has Improved an Already Excellent Software

The iOS 16 was a big hit among iPhone users and tech enthusiasts in general. The software features very impressive additions that made the whole iPhone experience even better. Surely, Apple couldn’t improve on it? Well, they did and in great ways.

During the Apple event on June 5, Apple announced the iOS 17, probably Apple’s most cust0mizable iOS upgrade. Here are the best of them.

Easier sharing with AirDrop and NameDrop

Sharing files between Apple devices has always been very convenient with the AirDrop which makes it easier to send files, including large ones like photos, to the other person within second. Now, there is NameDrop which allows users to share contact information by simply bringing their Apple phones into contact or contacting their phone with Apple Watch. NameDrop also allows you to share content, watch a move or play a game in close proximity with other iPhone users.

New StandBy mode

iPhone introduced a dark screen time display on their devices in iOS 16 and they have improved on that with the new iteration. The new StandBy mode provides you with a view of time, widgets and other information when the phone is horizontal. You can customize the StandBy mode to include other items too, such as music.

Check In

Another new feature on the iOS 17 is Check In. Check In gives updates of your location to family and friends to let them know that you got home safe. Any delay in arrival and Check In will check with you. If you fail to respond, it shares an alert with friends, giving them your location, battery and cell service status.

Journal

Apple have also added a new inbuilt app called Journal, which automatically suggest moments that you want to commemorate with a journal entry. You can add photos, music and activities to the Journal and can schedule reminders.

Other additions

iOS 17 also will let you personalize contact posters with not just photos but also Memojis and eye-catching typography which will appear during calls.

iMessage also got an upgrade, with an arrow allowing you to jump to the first unread message of the conversation, easier reply with a swipe, inline location sharing and new stickers.

When will it be available?

The iOS 17 upgrade will be available to the public next month.
