How to Practice Mindfulness and Meditation with These Simple Apps

Our current world is demanding a lot from us at a personal, societal, and professional level.

Thus, it is very easy to get sucked into the buzz and forget to take some time to calm your mind and yourself; to detox yourself from all the stress.

Well, below, we look at some apps that will help you dissociate from the world for a moment to cultivate peace and tranquility within.

Calm

Calm offers you a guide to mindfulness meditation and some unguided meditation sessions.

The app has various settings, either to play calming sounds, ambient music, and sleep stories, all to help you clear your mind in whatever way you see possible.

While mostly free, many of its more advanced and better features can only be unlocked with the subscription. It is available on both IOS and Android.

Headspace

Headspace is an app that I know many of you might be familiar with.

The app features hundreds of themed meditation sessions, which are designed to help reduce your stress, reduce anxiety, and put you to sleep. You also get a daily meditation guide for up to 10 minutes.

Like Calm, Headspace gives you some great features for free, but you need to subscribe eventually to access all features.

Smiling Mind

If you have children or students whom you want to introduce to meditation and mindfulness, the Smiling Mind is your app.

The app features programs for different age groups, from children as low as 7 to adults. It even features specific meditation exercises for people in sports, in the classroom, at the workplace, and for sleeping.

Ten Percent Happier

Ten Percent Happier might not be among the most popular apps, but that doesn’t make it any less good.

The app gives you over 500 guided meditation exercises for various areas and quick meditation exercises for those who are busy.

You also get small bits of stories, wisdom, and inspiration to help you stay focused and keep going through your day.

You can also get a personal coach on the app, learn the basics of meditation, and track your progress. Like the others, you ultimately will need to subscribe for a fee the more you use it.

These apps, and many others, are great tools to help you detox yourself from stress and anxiety after a long day’s work.
