How to Delete Your Threads Account Without Deleting Instagram

Threads is quickly becoming a very popular app among those who enjoy using Instagram yet want the X experience but without joining the app.

Threads took the world by storm but while the hype around the app has gone down a little bit (okay, it has gone down majorly), the app remains popular among those who have already signed up and are using it.

However, one of the things that turned people off from signing up for the app was the policy that to delete Threads, you needed to delete your Instagram account too.

Policy Changes

However, early last week, the platform introduced a feature which would make it easy for users to delete their Threads accounts without deleting their Instagram profiles.

Instagram head, Adam Mosseri made the announcement last week, stating that the change was based on user feedback.

“We’re rolling out a way for you to delete your Threads profile separately from your Instagram account,” he posted on Thread.

How to Delete Threads

So, here then is how to delete your Threads account:

  • Go the menu option on your
  • Go to Account, Then Deactivate or Delete Profile.
  • Then select the Delete
  • Once selected, you will be asked to log in with your password one last time for confirmation.
  • Then tap the Delete Threads Profile.

When you click delete, this action will delete your profile from your end and will also delete all your record from the public. But you can also choose to temporarily deactivate.

However, your posts, profile and user data will still be on Meta’s servers for the next 30 days. So, in case you change your mind within 30 days after deleting your profile, you can recover all your previous data.

This recent development is believed to be Meta’s attempt to enhance the growth of Meta, which has stagnated after the initial surge in interest in the first few weeks of the app’s introduction.

This change is only one of several changes that Meta announced last week.
