Celebrating Lilian Kwamboka, System Administrator at KRA

In our second entry celebrating African women in tech and related fields is Lilian Kwamboka.

Lilian Kwamboka’s Tech Journey: A Fascination with Technology

Lilian Kwamboka, a member of African women in tech, had for the longest time always been fascinated by all things technology, thus, when she graduated high school in 2013, she joined Strathmore University, where for four years, she specialized in a Bachelor’s Degrees in Business and Information Technology: Information Technology. Her enthusiasm also saw her quickly get into the AIESEC Strathmore Branch. AIESEC is a global platform which offers young people the opportunity to develop their leadership potential by providing them with different kinds of practical experiences such as internships, volunteering opportunities and more. As such, she was awarded a Certificate for Participation in AIESEC Ethiopia in 2016.

From IT Support to System Administrator

Lilian considers herself to be a highly motivates and enthusiastic professional, with a strong interest in systems and data administration. She also has a diverse set of skills such as technical and analytical skills, excellent communication, problem solving and teamwork. This marriage of different skills saw her work for Kuehne + Nagel in IT support as an intern in 2018.

She then moved on to become Information Technology Analyst at Wowzi on a short five-month contract before moving to her current employer, KRA as a Business Process Officer in her first stint, where she stayed for six months from July – December 2019. Lilian then moved back to Kuehne + Nagel as a fulltime employer in January of 2020, this time as an Assistant System Administrator, where she spent two years and left in January 2022. She returned to KRA, where she currently is, on February of 2022, this time as System Administrator.

Lilian is also licensed and certified on ICDL, Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA), Introduction to Standards and Sustainability and Fashion Design for International Markets.
